Become a Proctor
NOT ALL SAFE BOATING COURSES ARE CREATED EQUAL!
The Safe Boater Training Program has been designed specifically to provide information about the new Federal boating legislation and to provide boaters, cottagers and anglers with the service of obtaining their Pleasure Craft Operators Card.
Boaters have different needs and levels of experience. Some boaters may be more comfortable attending a comprehensive Safe Boater Training Course while some may want to review material found in The Safe Boater Study Manual and some may only need to write The Safe Boater Challenge Test. However, all boaters must write a supervised test to become certified. We are currently seeking qualified individuals to represent The Safe Boater in many areas across Canada.
Join The Safe Boater Team
The Safe Boater Training Program wants you to join our team. If you are age of majority, possess boating experience or have a teaching background - you can easily become approved to proctor tests. More experienced individuals can become qualified Safe Boater Instructors. By signing a one-page agreement you can supervise persons writing the test. This makes it easy for your fellow boaters, cottagers and even your neighbors to get certified at a time convenient for them! This is a unique opportunity for you to provide a service and capture new revenue opportunities. Send us an email and tell us about yourself and your level of interest - thesafeboater@rogers.com
Most boater training courses provide you with the minimum required to receive your Canadian Coast Guard Boater Proficiency Card. The Safe Boater Training Program gives you and your customers more every step of the way to ensure you receive the best value for your time and the highest long-term revenue opportunities!

The Safe Boater Training Program gives more benefits to your customers every step of the way. It is made up of the following components:
The Safe Boater Manual
The Safe Boater Manual is a Coast Guard accredited study guide that contains everything you need to know in order to write and pass the supervised test. Contents include all 149 knowledge statements as specified by the Coast Guard, such as equip, Rules of the road, Aids to Navigation and much more. As a full colour, professionally written training manual, it is the highest quality Study Guide on the market.
The Training Program
This eight-hour course covers everything you need to know to pass a supervised test. All Safe Boater Trainers have been certified in teaching The Safe Boater Training Course. This course has been designed to involve boaters by learning through a series of interactive activities, exercises and games, not boring lectures. Your customers will receive useful checklists and tips.
The Challenge Test
The Challenge Test may be held at your business, residence or community based location, as a stand alone supervised test or at the end of a Training Course. All course attendees are automatically registered for the test. Other boaters wishing to just take the test can also register and show up at the appointed time. Upon successfully completing the Challenge Test the boater will receive a temporary certificate, which will act as proof of competency. A permanent Pleasure Craft Operators Card will be mailed within a few weeks.
All boaters who get certified through The Safe Boater also qualify for value added offerings such as free magazines and special offers from our sponsors.
The Safe Boater Training Program is a Boater Proficiency Program dedicated to the highest quality learning principles. It also offers excellent income opportunities for individuals and businesses serious about being part of a professional boater safety educational team.
